Lil' Evil

Legendary lightweight fighter and fromer UFC Champion Jens " Lil Evil " Pulver announced his retirement from fighting in the last couple of days.

This is particularly pertinent to me, as Jens was always my favourite fighter. He was the first man to really put the LW's on the map when he beat BJ Penn for the UFC title, and is widely considered to be maybe the classiest, most fan friendly guy in the sport.
He was a personal inspiration for me while I was fighting, i wanted to fight like him, and i believed he made the LWs seem like the most exciting weight class there was.

I got to know Jens many years ago talking on the phone and email, he gave me a lot of encouragement for my fights and he is more down to earth than you can imagine. He had a shithouse childhood and a rough road to the UFC title, fighting his demons as much as his opponents which he documented in his inspirational book 'Little Evil' which you can find here: Jens Pulver's Books

Jens will stay in the sport in a commentating role with the WEC which is great for the fans as Pulver is renowned as an excellent and insightful caller.

Thanks Jens for all the awesome memories and highlight real moments.
